the reading rush: the halfway point!

So, if you follow me on Twitter then you might have noticed that I decided last-minute to take part in The Reading Rush! This is an annual readathon (it used to be called Booktubeathon) hosted by Ariel Bissett and Raeleen Lemay.

This year, there is now a website where you can track your stats and add people as friends (add me here!). This has been a really cool addition – I’m hopefully going to go onto the forums today to chat to new people!

So, how have I been doing so far?

Of the 7 prompts, I have achieved 4 so far:

1/ Read a book with purple on the cover

2/ Read a book in the same spot the entire time – A Lesson in Thorns by Sierra Simone

3/ Read a book you meant to read last year – Misogynation by Laura Bates

4/ Read an author’s first book

5/ Read a book with a non-human main character – Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker

6/ Pick a book that has five or more words in the title – When I Had A Little Sister by Catherine Simpson

7/ Read and watch a book to movie adaptation

Bonus/ Read 7 books!

I’m thinking that I might double-up on the ‘purple’ and ‘first cover’ prompts and read I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver. I think I have a couple of other debut novels that might work, though. For the book to movie adaptation, I actually started watching Yuri on Ice last night, so I might try and request it on my library app/buy an e-version of the first volume. Many thanks to my lovely fiancee for that idea!!

If I stay on track, I should be able to read 7 books quite easily. This has been quite the success so far for me, because I’ve been able to knock out a couple of ARCs as well as step up my reading 🙂

Are you participating in the Reading Rush? How is it going for you?
