november tbr (ish)

I haven’t put up a TBR in a while, so I thought I would update you about some of the stuff I would like to read relatively soon. This isn’t a hard and fast TBR, because I’ve been really into mood reading at the moment. But there are a lot of books that I am excited for at the moment!

I started the Newsflesh Trilogy by Mira Grant (also known as Seanan McGuire), and I’m on book two (Deadline). I absolutely loved the first book Feed, but this one is a bit lacklustre at the moment. Depending on how this one goes, I might continue with the series. I also got my copy of Muse of Nightmares signed by Laini Taylor the other day (she came up to Birmingham to give a talk which was amazing!) and I absolutely MUST pick this up soon!

Other new releases that I would be delighted to read soon is, of course, What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera. It feels like everybody except me has read this already! I have also pre-ordered Girls of Paper and Fire which will be coming out on the 6th of November. There has been a LOT of hype about this book, and I’m pretty convinced that it’s going to become a new favourite.

As I’m sure most of you know, November also happens to be the month for non-fiction! I’m not formally taking part in the readathon, because the thought of having a set TBR at the moment makes me want to cry, but there are a couple of nonfiction books that I’ve purchased recently that I would like to get to. These include:

Ask Me About My Uterus | Mindhunter | Spook

Other than that, I’ve bought quite a few spooky books recently, as I’m in a real supernatural/murder/spooky mood at the moment. I’ve never really been all that interested in horror until this year, and I feel like I’m making up for a lot of lost time!

What are you planning on reading in November? Have you read any of the books I’ve mentioned? Let me know!

I just picked What If Its Us up at the library which I’m looking forward to reading. I’ve read such mixed reviews about it so it’ll be interesting to see for myself.

I also did a TBR this month because I have SO MANY books to get through before the end of the year so I need to get a bit more orgnanized than mood reading was allowing.

Yeah I’m definitely interested in this too. I read that some of the behaviour was a little stalker-ish which makes me a bit nervous. :/

I totally understand that! Make sure you’re still having fun though! ❤

Don’t worry, you aren’t the ONLY person who hasn’t read What If It’s Us! XD This is still on my TBR as well. I’m trying to let the hype die down so I don’t get overexcited. I tend to do that with hyped books. *shrug*

I’ve never heard of Girls of Paper and Fire! What makes you think this is going to be a new favorite? I’m intrigued that this is a “James Patterson Presents” book. This must be a new thing famous authors are doing– Rick Riordan is doing something similar with middle grade novels. Ah, trends.

Good luck with your reading this November! I’m cheering you on. 🙂

Woohoo, I’m not alone! That makes sense to me. If the hype isn’t right at the forefront of your mind it won’t be disappointing.

Girls of Paper and Fire is a f/f fantasy based on elements of Asian mythology. I am so down for that!!
I kinda like the ‘author presents’ trend going on right now. At least with Rick Riordan he’s really using his influence to allow authors of colour to get hype that they might not normally receive. I think it’s really opened new opportunities, which is awesome!

You have a great point about Rick Riordan presents. I look forward to seeing what comes next from his line. That said, I don’t want them all to be series! We definitely need more standalone novels. I feel like series get all the attention — standalones are wonderful. Riordan or Patterson could help influence a lot.

I hope Girls of Paper and Fire really IS a new favorite! It sounds beautiful.
