diversity bingo 2017 update

I’m sure most of you know about the Diversity Bingo 2017 – this is my main blogging challenge of this year, so I thought I would give you a bit of an update!

As you can see, I haven’t made a row yet, but I’m getting close! I’ve got a couple of books waiting that will fit some of the categories quite nicely.

MC on the ace spectrum: How to Be a Normal Person

LGBTQIA+ MC of colour: Juliet Takes a Breath

Retelling with MC belonging to LGBTQIA: Peter Darling

Neurodiverse MC: On the Edge of Gone

MC with an under-represented body: The King of Bourbon Street

It isn’t too late to start this challenge – I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it so far, because it has been so brilliant in showing my unconscious reading biases. And you’ve got all year, after all!

Got any recommendations for me? Let me know! I don’t have choices for all of the categories yet.

Which categories do you still need books for? I’m looking for an #ownvoices anaphylactic allergy book and it’s so difficult. I’m reading Solar Storms by Linda Hogan for indigenous MC and I’ve been reading it for over two months (since I read it only when I use the tram) and it is so beautiful. The descriptions are amazing.

Wow! You are making great progress!!! I love watching your updates come in. This image with the book covers as the bingo markers is really adorable. What sort of black magic did you use to create that? I am in awe.

I’d give you recommendations… but… well, I am really struggling on the diversity book front myself. I’m mostly looking to you, Naz, and other bookish community members to help me out. Great work thus far, though! Keep it up.

How did you make yours into really nice thumbnails? I’m trying to do mine and it just looks horrendous!
