These are some of the people who I am turning to, right now.
Verso Books is one of the leading publishers of radical books. First established in the 1970s, they pride themselves on being at the forefront of modern publishing and politics. They coordinate radical events all over the UK. They publish sets of radical thinkers. They are, in short, brilliant.
I’ve read and purchased a couple of Verso’s books, including:
(You can read my review of Red Rosa here).
Some of their upcoming publications include:
For those who are doing #NonFictionNovember, Verso is an absolute goldmine when it comes to non-fiction that strikes at the absolute heart of what it means to be a modern citizen. Some authors published by Verso Books include Rebecca Solnit, W.E.B. DuBois and Tariq Ali (among many, MANY others).
Finally, their blog is also an absolute gem. Recently, of course, there has been a lot of coverage over the Trump election. I think that Verso’s blog posts have got right to the heart of the issue, particularly in the article Watching Whiteness Work. If you don’t have the funds to buy a Verso book right now – take a read of these.
Who are you reading at this time of crisis?
