15 may – 23 may bookish roundup

It has been announced that Steig Larsson’s Milennium series will be continuing with a fifth book being released next year. It will be written by David Lagercrantz, the author of the fourth book, ‘The Girl in the Spider’s Web’. Plot information is yet to come!

A young adult version of ‘The Da Vinci Code’ is to be released late this year. Apparently it will be abridged to make it more accessible to teens. I didn’t actually think that was possible, but hey. It stops a proper new Dan Brown book being released, which can only be a good thing, right?!

Routledge Handbooks has recently adopted a new system, Altmetric, which allows them to track commentary about their publications. Don’t ask me how this works, but if this is successful this could be a great new way for publishers to track online buzz about their publications. However it only tracks ISBNs, so I’m not entirely sure how it will be able to judge how influential it is on sites such as Twitter where there ISBN isn’t necessarily linked or used…

Top publications of this week include:

  1. The Hairy Dieters: Fast Food
  2. The World’s Worst Children by David Walliams
  3. This Must Be the Place by Maggie O’Farrell
  4. How It Works: The Dad (Ladybird Books for Grown-Ups)

Happy reading and happy Monday!
